JW Ladies: starved for love?
by 144001 inok, in another thread, a poster referred to incidents of "sisters" out in "field service" attempting to "hit" on the males they encountered at the doors.
i have personally had this experience, and also noticed that the last time i visited a kingdom hall, the females in the hall were very, very flirty (including those who were married).
it was as if i had entered a place inhabited soley by women who had been denied male companionship for years!

Well, think about the men in the congos, I mean, looking back the group at the hall I grew up in were pretty well emasculated by adulthood. Never participating in normal young man activities and being taught that being a spineless wimp was the ideal mode of existence, well, I just don't see these guys inflaming their ladies with passion and taking care of business in the bedroom. I can recall in the gossip mill that was the Kingdom Hall many stories about brothers that didn't have the desire much less the first clue about what to do in the bedroom.

"This just can't last much longer...."
by BrendaCloutier ini went over and visited my parents today.
my mom broke her hip while we were in hawaii, and i've been mostly house/bed ridden myself since we got home.
so i finally got over there today.. we talked a little about the hurricane, which was on the news she turned off.

Virgogirl, first welcome to the forum. Second, my 85 year old mother is one of them, she clings to it because she has invested so heavily in it. She told me recently though if her father was still alive he would have left the org. She just figures at this point in her life what can she do.

Question for Defd
by gringojj in.
defd we were talking earlier and i didnt want to hijack the other post.
we were talking about how i believe it is unfair for god to murder his children even though it is his fault that they dont follow his wishes not because they dont want to but because he did not make his wishes clear.. you said that his wishes are clear, but the devil distorts them.. you promised me you would provide me with some examples.

Cool, it appears reports of Defd's demise were greatly exaggerated! Hang in there Derrick.

Is there anything that "only the JW's preach" you still believe in?
by JH in.
i don't know what to answer to my own question.... i guess that i still believe in a paradise earth where humans could live forever.

No, if there is anything to christianity, certainly none of their exclusive teachings make any sense to me at all.

The thing is, with some of these cases, when the papers and news report it they leave out some key elements that just totally make it seem bizarre. The McDonalds case for instance, my understanding is that the reason that case went that way was that the counsel for McDonalds was just a jackass, insulted the jury multiple times, basically telling them they were a bunch of dumbasses, etc. Also, McDonalds knew the coffee was at a temperature that was way above what other restaurants used and could cause severe burns in a much shorter time and in greater severity than one would expect and had settled cases like the Stella case in the past, paying for the medical bills, but this time decided to play hardball.
So all that went into the jury saying fine, you want to be the corporate giant and call us dumb a-holes, well, we'll fix you and they did. Of course the news and the papers usually don't add those sorts of facts to their reporting as it dilutes the shock factor.

Explain monogamy to me
by joelbear in.
my preferred social construct would be a group of 5 to 10 men sharing space, chores, well everything.. if i were heterosexual i think i would prefer the same situation, 2 or 3 families living together and sharing all.. actually i believe this should be a worldwide goal, total community in every sense of the word.. i see no advantage served by social and sexual diads.. please explain it to me.

I think Penn & Teller did a show on this, about the "traditional" family structure being a recent construct.
I don't think most people would be able to handle a situation like you describe Joel, it seems most like being exclusive to another person.
